Welcome to ChemGradBoom, CGB for short! My name is Caitlyn and I am glad you stopped by!

To start things off let's go over some basics

Where I currently live: Edinburgh, Scotland, UK
Where have I lived: Grew up in North Carolina, USA. Lived in Wingate, NC and Cullowhee, NC for Undergrad and my Masters. Also did a 6 month stint in Indianapolis for a fellowship at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
What am I doing in Edinburgh: Working on my PhD studying Window Glass.
Window Glass, WTF? Yep, that is what my PhD will be in. I am looking into the conservation of window glass in historic buildings and trying to work on methods for developing a dating method for Scottish Window Glass.

So now onto some fun things, and more about the PhD in Windows!
My dream job brought me to Edinburgh to study windows, see I want to be a conservation scientist and work in museums chemically studying/looking at artwork. Totally a random job, but my time at the IMA cemented that I was happy in a museum lab and in order to do that I need a PhD.

Now since I have the opportunity to live abroad, I plan on enjoying that as much as possible. So on this blog you will see bits and pieces of my travels, my random life tid-bits and I share my thoughts during my time as a PhD student.
Thanks for stopping by!
